Bill Belichick brought back several of his old assistants to the New England Patriots this season, namely Matt Patricia and Joe Judge.

While that has led some to speculate that Bill O'Brien could return to the Patriots as well, Belichick denied those rumors on Monday.

Bill O'Brien Patriots Rumors

O'Brien is currently serving as Alabama's offensive coordinator but is looking to return to the NFL. Belichick says he hasn't spoken to O'Brien in a while, however, and hasn't kept up with him, implying that they haven't been in contact about a potential reunion in New England.

Alabama's current OC worked under Belichick on the Patriots' coaching staff from 2007-2011 before taking the head coaching job at Penn State. He then served as head coach of the Houston Texans from 2014-2020.

Belichick's former assistant has not coached in the NFL since being let go by Houston early in the 2020 season, but he's looking to make a comeback. While several teams would probably be interested in giving O'Brien another shot, it sounds like the Patriots aren't one of them.
