San Francisco 49ers' No. 1 wide receiver Deebo Samuel left the team's Week 7 game early in the fourth quarter with a hamstring injury. The game was well out of hand by that point, with San Francisco leading, 30-6, so fans were hoping the move was more precautionary than anything significant.
Unfortunately, head coach Kyle Shanahan did not sound so optimistic about Samuel's status when speaking with the media.
You never know. Know it pulled on him on that run, which usually is some time... Hopefully the severity won’t be too bad, he won’t miss too much time."- Kyle Shanahan
While it doesn't sound like the injury is anything too severe, saying he hopefully "won't miss too much time" makes it sound like he could be on the shelf for a bit. And that's far from ideal considering the 49ers have a date with the division-leading Seattle Seahawks in Week 8.
Seattle is currently surrendering a league-high 368.7 passing yards per game. San Francisco will likely need to exploit that weakness in order to come out on top, and that task gets much tougher if Samuel is limited or can't go.
If Deebo is out, expect superstar tight end George Kittle and rookie wideout Brandon Aiyuk to become the focal points of the 49ers' attack in Week 8. It'll be crucial for 49ers fans to keep an eye on Samuel's status throughout the week.
