The Cleveland Browns found a lot of success in the 2020 NFL season, finishing with an 11-5 record and making it all the way to the AFC Divisional Round. That small taste of success has the Browns wanting more in 2021, which led to them making several offseason moves to improve the team.

One of those included bringing in former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Anthony Walker.

However, Walker gave the Browns and their fans quite a scare on Sunday as he left practice with a trainer after suffering a non-contract injury to his right leg.

Fortunately, it's looking like Cleveland dodged a bullet as he's only expected to miss a week of action and won't require surgery.

Anthony Walker Injury Update

After spending the first four seasons with the Colts, Walker signed a one-year contract with the Browns back in March. The fact that he's going to make a speedy recovery is great news as Cleveland is hoping that he can be an important part of the defense.

Walker is coming off of a season that saw him start in all 16 games for the Colts, finishing the year with 92 total tackles, 5 passes defended and an interception. It certainly was a down year for him, especially considering compared to his production in 2019.

Nevertheless, Walker joins a Browns defense that allowed 26.5 points per game (21st) in 2020, which indicates that there's a lot of work to do if Cleveland hopes to be a contender next season. With Walker probably being the team's starting middle linebacker, a lot of eyes will be on him to produce results.

The Browns currently have +1600 odds to win Super Bowl 56, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, which ranks eighth-best in the NFL. Getting solid defensive performances from Walker and the rest of the defense would go a long way in turning those odds into reality.
