Joe Maddon still doesn’t have a return date for Rendon, but reiterated “he’s getting really, really close”
Rendon was having a decent start to the 2021 MLB season before getting injured. In 37 plate appearances over eight games, Rendon record 9 hits with a home run and 3 RBI while being walked five times. He also has a slash line of .290/.378/.387 on the year.
The truth is that the Angels could use Rendon's help in their battle for the AL West title. At 9-6, the team sits half a game behind the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners for first place. Jose Rojas and Luis Rengifo rotating at third base in Rendon's absence, but it's clear that neither man has been able to adequately fill Rendon's void.
If the Angels want to compete for a World Series this season, Rendon's return will certainly give them a push early on in their journey. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Angels currently have +2000 odds to win the World Series.
