The Kansas City Chiefs' recent reign of dominance has made Andy Reid's coaching staff a prime target for poachers over the past few years. With plenty of open jobs around the league once again this offseason, Reid's at risk of seeing some of his colleagues depart.
In fact, one fellow AFC contender is eyeing a pair of Chiefs coaches.
The Tennessee Titans have put in requests to interview both offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and QBs coach Matt Nagy. It's no surprise either coach is drawing interest from others teams given their experience and résumés.
Tennessee took a step back this season after finishing as the No. 1 seed in the conference last year, leading to offensive coordinator Todd Downing being fired. Now powerful head coach Mike Vrabel is looking to retool his offense with a talented mind, and Bieniemy or Nagy could fit the bill.
Bieniemy's success as the Chiefs' OC has been noted across the league. However, it's worth wondering if he'd even be interested in a lateral move to the same position on a far less talented offense. Producing without Reid and Patrick Mahomes, though, may be his best shot at proving he's worthy of a promotion to head coach.
Nagy, meanwhile, returned to KC this season after a lackluster end to his Chicago Bears tenure. He'd likely be very interested in returning to an OC role, which would put him one step closer toward becoming a head coach again.
It remains to be seen if either accepts the Titans' invitation. Tennessee would certainly love to hire one and hurt the Chiefs' staff in the process.
