Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. created some buzz on Sunday when he tweeted out praise for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. As usual, social media had a frenzy with the thought of OBJ joining the Packers.

Fast forward to Tuesday and Rodgers added even more fuel to the fire in his "Pat McAfee Show" appearance. The four-time NFL MVP told McAfee that he and Beckham "have been friends for a number of years" and that playing together is something that they've always wanted to do.

Odell Beckham Packers Rumors

Rodgers did go on to admit that he's unsure of Beckham's injury status. The 29-year-old tore his ACL while helping the LA Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals during Super Bowl LVI. ACL tears usually come with a nine-month recovery time, which points to a November return at the earliest.

While Rodgers "wants to see [Beckham] healthy," there's no denying that he'd be a good fit for the Packers. Green Bay's WR room is largely composed of unproven players who've already frustrated their star QB multiple times. Entering Week 5, the Packers still don't have a 200-yard wideout.

Throw in the fact that the team has already lost Sammy Watkins to injury and a play for OBJ makes sense. Even coming off an ACL tear, Beckham has proven himself with 531 receptions, 7,367 yards and 56 touchdowns over 96 games. That type of production is hard to ignore.

Packers Super Bowl Odds

Nevertheless, we're still likely a few weeks away from Beckham joining any NFL team. If his relationship with Rodgers is as close as the quarterback makes it sound, Green Bay's offense could see a major boost in the second half of the season.

Adding Beckham would also improve the Packers' chances of winning a championship. Green Bay currently has the fourth-best title odds (+1000) on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
