76ers vs Heat Predictions

Predictions for the 76ers vs Heat series are from FiveThirtyEight.

The 76ers are projected for a 44% chance to make the Eastern Conference Finals and a 6% chance to win the NBA championship, while the Heat are projected for a 56% chance to make the Eastern Conference Finals and a 6% chance to win the NBA championship.

Joel Embiid Injury Update

The 76ers received terrible news on Friday when it was announced that superstar center Joel Embiid has been ruled out indefinitely with a mild concussion and right orbital fracture.

There's no timetable for Embiid's return because he's still waiting for more test results. Whether or not he'll need surgery is up in the air, but it's clear that losing an NBA MVP candidate like Embiid for any period of time is going to hurt the 76ers' chances of success.

In the three games against Miami previously this season, Embiid averaged 23.7 PPG, 13.7 RPG and 3.3 APG. Replacing MVP-level production like that would be tough, to say the least.
