Most golf fans likely remember Sergio most this season for his meltdown in Dubai that earned him a DQ, but outside of that, he has been playing exceptional golf this season. On top of being a former winner of this event (2008), Sergio has placed in the top-10 in nine of his last 11 starts overall. If he can get his putter to cooperate as well as his irons have recently, he just might be able to snag the win on a Sawgrass course he knows very well.
Ricky Fowler has had some real highs and lows at Sawgrass. He won the event in 2015 and had a T-2 in 2012, but has also missed five cuts in nine appearances in his career. He has one win this season at the Waste Management Open and a T-2 at the Honda Classic, so he has enjoyed some success recently and it could continue it again this week.

Winning on the PGA Tour is hard enough, but winning back-to-back weeks is rarified air. Although, it could be something Francesco Molinari pulls off at THE PLAYERS. He put on a clinic to close out a come-from-behind victory last week at Bay Hill and he could very well carry that momentum into Sawgrass. Despite only making the cut four times in eight appearances at this event, Molinari finished in the top 10 all four of those times. He's playing arguably the best golf of his career heading into this one, so he could very well shock the world with back-to-back wins.
