There are bad beats, and there are soul-crushing bad beats. And for Georgia Bulldogs' bettors, last night was most certainly the latter.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Georgia was a 6.5-point underdog coming into last night's game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Georgia's moneyline was listed at +235.
Georgia and Mississippi State were tied 67-67 with just 0.5 seconds left to play when Mississippi State's Quinndary Weatherspoon stepped to the free-throw line. Weatherspoon missed the first free throw as a fan inexplicably tossed a stuffed animal onto the court.

The Bulldogs were assessed a technical foul. Mississippi St made the FT, and won the game. Wow 來 pic.twitter.com/7PNheymQrp
Consequently, Georgia was given a technical foul. Weatherspoon nailed the technical free throw attempt, sealing the victory for Mississippi State. While it's certainly no guarantee Weatherspoon would've missed the second free throw attempt if no technical foul was called, it's ridiculous we never got to see it play out.
At least some Bulldogs' bettors can take solace in the fact that Georgia still covered the 6.5-point spread.
The UGA student has apologized for throwing the stuffed animal and he told me he feels awful about the situation. I have taken down the post and am sorry for tweeting it out initially.
