Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took home NFL MVP honors this past season, and there are a slew of statistics that prove just how much he deserved the award. This includes throwing for the same number of touchdowns last season as a former No. 2 overall pick had in the last three years combined.
That's right, Mahomes' 50 touchdown passes in the 2018 regular season matched Marcus Mariota's total from 2016 to 2018 combined.

After starting the final regular season game of the 2017 campaign, Mahomes took over the full-time gig as Chiefs' starting quarterback and ran with the opportunity. He joined elite company this past season as one of only three quarterbacks to throw 50 touchdown passes in a single season (Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are the other two). In addition, Mahomes became the only quarterback in history to throw for 5,000 yards in college and the pros.
Needless to say, Mahomes' career is off to a booming start, and if he keeps putting up numbers like these, I'm sure he'll see his name next to lots of other passing records as his career continues. Let's just hope he doesn't make your favorite team's starting QB's numbers look bad in the process.
