At first glance, the Purdue Boilermakers had a good year in 2018, they went 6-6 overall, 5-4 in the Big Ten and made some great strides on both sides of the ball.

Also, when sitting at 5-6 heading into the final week they beat their in-state rivals to clinch a bowl berth.

All in all a solid season for the Boilermakers.

But if we take a closer look at their wins, a hilarious trend emerges. Every single Purdue win this year was a gut punch for the other team. First, they beat three ranked teams, Boston College, Ohio State, and Iowa. The Iowa game essentially knocked Iowa out of contention in the Big Ten West and the Ohio State game might keep the Buckeyes from making the college football playoff. Then their three road wins were: Illinois on Homecoming, Nebraska on Homecoming and Indiana to deny the Hoosiers a bowl berth.

It truly takes a special kind of team to pull off multiple upsets and ruin multiple homecomings. Meanwhile, every team they lost to was unranked at the time, including a loss to Eastern Michigan. Apparently, the Boilermakers only get up for big games.

Lucky for them they now have one more big game in December.
