There sure are lots of aces on the mound today.
The list includes Cy Young award winners Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander, Dallas Keuchel and Corey Kluber. Plus there are Cy Young hopefuls Aaron Nola and Blake Snell. It's the games the hopefuls will be pitching in that are the focus of tonight's two-team parlay.
Game 1: Toronto Blue Jays (+220) @ Tampa Bay Rays (-260), 6:10 p.m. EST
Snell looks to be the favorite to win the AL Cy Young, boasting a 1.90 ERA and a 21-5 record coming into today's contest with the Toronto Blue Jays. Snell could cement his first such award with another quality outing against a team he has dominated this season. The left-hander is 2-0 and hasn't given up a single run in 11 2/3 innings while striking out 17 in two starts against the Blue Jays. Snell is also 10-1 with a 1.24 ERA at home this year, meaning there's a good chance the Rays come out on top tonight.
Game 2: Atlanta Braves (+136) @ Philadelphia Phillies (-152), 7:05 p.m. EST
This one goes against the grain and takes the non-Cy Young candidate. The Braves, who won the AL East for the first time since 2013, will send veteran Anibal Sanchez to the mound against a slumping Phillies team, who have won just once in its last 10 contests. Despite Nola taking the mound for the final time this year in a season where he has a career-best 16-6 record and 2.45 ERA, the right-hander has not been good lately. In September, Nola has gone 1-3 with a 4.60 ERA so it's clear that he's hit a bit of a wall while tallying an also career-high 205 1/3 innings. Sanchez, on the other hand, went 1-1 with a 2.86 ERA in four September starts including a win over the Phillies in his only start against them just last week.
