49ers Rumors: Trading Up a Second Time Makes Sense for One Reason
By Max Staley

The San Francisco 49ers have been busy this offseason. The organization made headlines a few weeks ago by trading up into the top three of the 2021 NFL Draft, but one beat writer thinks they may not be done.
Taking a look at the roster construction, The Athletic's David Lombardi thinks the team could be trading up from No. 43 in the second round.
Of course, the rookie class could theoretically be so good that it creates more than 5 openings. That number is fluid. It's simply my current projection. But 5 is so much smaller than 9 that it appears 49ers are well set-up to trade up if they really like a prospect ahead of #43

Lombardi currently theorizes that the 49ers will only have five roster spots open for rookies this season. That obviously creates a logjam considering San Francisco is currently set to make nine picks in this draft.
One pretty simple solution would be to package some of those picks to move up in the second round.
If a stud cornerback slips out of the first, don't be surprised to see John Lynch get aggressive and make a move up.
