Though the calendar reads May, millions of football fans across the globe are sitting on pins and needles waiting for the 2019 NFL campaign to get underway.

As you might expect, teams like the Patriots (+700), Chiefs (+800) and Saints (+850) are among the early favorites to take home the Lombardi Trophy next February. But, what about some dark horse candidates that could shock everyone and come out on top? In this piece, we take a look at four of those candidates:

1. Seattle Seahawks (+3000)

Football and coffee, that's what Seattle does? Well, thanks to the Sonics being stolen and the Mariners being the Mariners, truer words have never been spoken. And with the Seahawks, they've brought back honor to the 206. Though this team lost Doug Baldwin to retirement this offseason, Seattle is still led by the one and only Russell Wilson. With improving the defense being a focus this offseason, including signing DL Ziggy Ansah, the Seahawks are looking to bounce back from their first-round exit to Dallas last year. They've tasted Super Bowl glory before, let's see if they can do it again.

2. Dallas Cowboys (+2300)

Jerry Jones' blood pressure must be skyrocketing seeing his team as a dark horse, but we're not in the mid-90s anymore. The Cowboys got the monkey off their back and won a playoff game last year against the Seahawks, but their reward was a trip to L.A. to take on the mighty Rams. After that loss, many fans were calling for Jason Garrett to be canned. Well, he's still the head coach and this may be his final shot to keep his job safe. With Dak Prescott entering the fourth year of his career, the pressure will be on him to deliver. Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper will surely take pressure off of him. With so much talent on both sides of the ball, Dallas might not be a team you want to sleep on.

3. Minnesota Vikings (+2300)

That look on Kirk Cousins' face in the photo above kind of says all you need to know about Minnesota's 2018. No. 8's first year under center for the Vikings was a disaster, which resulted in the team missing the playoffs after going 8-7-1. This came after they finished 13-3 the year before. For next season, Cousins will have to step his game up if he wants this team to play ball past Week 17 this season.

4. Green Bay Packers (+1800)

They might not be the biggest sleeper on this list, but the Packers haven't received much love from bettors of late. Can you blame them, though? Green Bay missed the postseason last year, with Aaron Rodgers looking visibly upset throughout the campaign. With Matt LaFleur taking over as head coach, he'll bring in a new offensive system to try and get the Packers back on track. When you have Rodgers as your starter, that opens up a lot of doors execution wise. Look for AR12 to eliminate the bad memories from 2018 with a stellar showing in 2019.
