The Indianapolis Colts had a disappointing 2019 season, following the surprise retirement of Andrew Luck. After signing veteran quarterback Philip Rivers and reuniting him with coach Frank Reich, expectations are high for this Colts team heading into the 2020 season.

However, there are still some holes on the Colts that should be filled quickly. With the sixth-most salary cap ($23,387,190), Indianapolis has room for anyone they wish to pick up. These are three veteran free agents the Colts should sign before training camp.

1. Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE

Entering 2020, the Colts have made moves to improve their offense. The one thing they did not address properly is their pass defense, and the best way to help out a lackluster secondary is by improving the pass rush. Last season, the Colts were middle of the road in sacks, averaging 2.6 per game (T-No. 13 in NFL). Jadeveon Clowney is the best edge rusher available. Clowney reportedly turned down a deal with the Cleveland Browns, but the Colts are a team that legitimately could contend, especially if they make multiple moves on defense.

2. Logan Ryan, CB

Again. the Colts did not do enough to address their pass defense, which gave up 248.9 passing yards per game last season (No. 23 in NFL). The Colts should know plenty about Logan Ryan, who enjoyed one of his best NFL seasons last year with the Tennessee Titans. Ryan totaled four interceptions, 18 passes defended, 4.5 sacks and 113 tackles. He would be a great all-around contributor for this defense.

3. Everson Griffen, EDGE

Much like Clowney, Everson Griffen would give the Colts a big boost to their pass rush. The long-time Minnesota Viking left the team after 10 seasons, but he appears to have plenty left in the tank. Last season, Griffen totaled eight sacks, 24 quarterback hits and 11 tackles for a loss in 15 games.
