The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a strange season. Despite having a remarkably efficient offense, the team sputtered down the stretch en route to an 8-8, second-place finish in the NFC East.
There's clearly a lot on the line for this team in 2020, especially with new head coach Mike McCarthy at the helm. So with that in mind, let's take a look at three Cowboys with a make-or-break season ahead in 2020.
1. Dak Prescott , QB
Coming off the best statistical season of his career, it's a bit strange to see Dak Prescott on this list. As mentioned above, though, he couldn't translate that production into wins, and the Cowboys didn't sign him to a long-term contract, opting to use the franchise tag instead. If Prescott doesn't maintain that high-level production, and put some more Ws in the win column next season, his future in Dallas could be up in the air.
2. Blake Jarwin, TE
Blake Jarwin has flashed at times, but he's got a lot more on his plate now that Jason Witten is with the Las Vegas Raiders. He averaged 8.9 yards per target last season, which was tied for sixth-best among tight ends. He did so on a limited sample size, though, and with Witten gone he'll have to prove he can maintain that efficiency in a much larger role. He signed a four-year $22 million deal with the team this offseason, but Dallas has a potential out after 2021. He'll have to prove he's worth that investment this season.
3. Chidobe Awuzie, CB
With Byron Jones now on the Miami Dolphins, Chidobe Awuzie will need to step up in Dallas. He'll essentially going be the team's de-facto No. 1 corner, but he won't benefit from getting the easier matchup now that Jones is out of the picture. His rookie contract is up at the end of next year, and if he performs well, he could be rewarded handsomely come season's end.
