The New York Yankees ended their 2022 season the same as they have every year since their 2009 World Series title – without a championship. This year was especially deflating, as the Yankees were swept by the rival Houston Astros in the ALCS with the final two losses coming at Yankee Stadium.

Brian Cashman 2023 Contract

General manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone both enter this offseason on the hot seat, and the former doesn't even currently have a contract with New York. While there has been much speculation about a potential change at the top of the organization, SNY's Andy Martino is reporting that won't be the case.

His report states that while Cashman and the Yankees haven't officially begun discussing a new contract, both Cashman and Boone are expected to return in 2023.

This will surely upset a large portion of New York's fans, many of whom think a philosophical and personnel change is necessary. While the Yankees had bad luck with injuries this year, even when everyone was healthy there were still question marks around the structure of the team.

With a rising cap, plenty of money coming off the books and an owner that should be more motivated than ever to spend money on upgrading talent, Cashman and Boone should have a busy offseason with plenty of resources doing everything they can to put a championship team on the field next season.
