The XFL's opening weekend got off to a flying start as football fans reveled in the latest bid for a spring football league. With new rules, a number of former college stars, and major network backing, the XFL 2.0 put together a strong showing.
Week 1 saw the DC Defenders, Houston Roughnecks, New York Guardians, and St. Louis BattleHawks emerge victorious. The XFL is split into an Eastern and Western Conference comprising four teams each. The top two teams from each division will make the four-team, single-elimination playoffs.
From a gambling perspective, the odds are very volatile as the industry adjusts to a brand-new league. The XFL has emphasized betting as a major part of its product, putting lines and over/unders front and center on broadcasts, so there are already plenty of options for bettors. But for teams themselves, the goal is still winning a championship.
The odds have already shifted slightly since preseason. Here’s an early look at the XFL Championship odds after the first weekend of the season.
