The Kansas City Chiefs were left without a clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver when they traded Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins last week. While the team did steal Marquez Valdes-Scantling from the Green Bay Packers, he's not exactly on the same level as Hill.

It's now looking like the Chiefs will turn to the trade market to find another high-level wideout. ESPN's Dianna Russini reported Tuesday morning that Kansas City is looking to add another "top" wide receiver via trade.

Although there are still more than five months until the new seasons begins, that time could pass by quickly. Here's a look at three star wide receivers that the Chiefs need to try to trade for ahead of the 2022 NFL season.

Chiefs Trade Rumors

1. DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks

After the Seattle Seahawks traded quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, it became clear that the team was ready for a rebuild. Since then, it's been theorized that the Seahawks could move on from stud wideout DK Metcalf. If that's the case, the Chiefs should be all over it. Metcalf has done well since entering the league in 2019, recording 216 receptions, 3,170 yards and 29 touchdowns without missing a game. He's one of the most dominant wideouts in the league in terms of strength and speed. He's already done well with Wilson as his quarterback, but Metcalf could absolutely terrorize defenses with a prime Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball. He may not have Hill's resumé yet, but Metcalf could be just as dangerous in Kansas City.

2. Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

Metcalf isn't the only Seahawks WR who could be on the move this offseason, with Tyler Lockett being involved in trade rumors as well. Although he can be streaky at times, Lockett is one of the NFL's top downfield threats and could make for a suitable Hill replacement. He's recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons, notching 26 touchdowns over that stretch. The Chiefs have allegedly called the Seahawks about Lockett, so he's clearly someone that they have their eyes on. Combining his speed with Mahomes' arm power next season could help Chiefs fans quickly forget about Hill.

3. Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans

The Houston Texans' Brandin Cooks is one player whose name was floating around in trade rumors during the 2021 NFL season. The Chiefs were reportedly interested back then and there's no reason why they wouldn't be now. Cooks has been the definition of consistent throughout his NFL career, hitting at least 1,000 receiving yards in six of the last seven seasons. While he's easily his team's best receiver, the Texans could be willing to move him for draft assets due to their lack of success in recent years. With how well Cooks has performed with legendary QBs like Drew Brees and Tom Brady in the past, it's hard not to get excited over the potential of him playing with Mahomes.
