A grand jury cleared Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson of harassment and sexual assault criminal charges on Friday. Fast forward not even 24 hours later and it didn't take long for NFL teams to call the Texans and inquire about his trade availability — including the Minnesota Vikings.

Pro Football Network's Aaron Wilson reported Saturday that the Vikings have expressed interest in having Watson replace Kirk Cousins as the team's new starting QB. After all, a deal could be beneficial for both sides.

Deshaun Watson Trade Rumors

The Vikings could be a perfect fit for Watson because it'd provide him with two high-end pass-catching weapons in wideouts Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen.

Jefferson is coming off a campaign that saw him record 1,616 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on 108 receptions in 17 games. Although Thielen's begun slowing down, only Davante Adams (29) and Mike Evans (27) have more than his 24 receiving TDs over the last two seasons. If the wideout duo accomplished that with Cousins throwing them the ball, just imagine what they could do with Watson.

The last time the 26-year-old Texans QB suited up was in the 2020 NFL season. He led the league in passing yards (4,823) and yards per completion (12.6) that year while also throwing a career-high 33 touchdown passes. With Thielen, Jefferson and running back Dalvin Cook at his disposal, the possibilities would be endless.

On the other hand, a trade would also work for the Texans because they could potentially acquire Cousins to help field a more competitive roster. Even if he isn't a championship-caliber gunslinger, he'd be an upgrade over Davis Mills after recording 4,221 passing yards and 33 TDs to seven interceptions in 2021.

Besides, acquiring Watson would give Minnesota's championship odds a much-needed boost. The Vikings are listed as having +4000 odds (T-No. 18) to win Super Bowl LVII, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
