The Minnesota Vikings had one of the worst defenses in the NFL this past season. They surrendered 25.1 points per game in 2022, which ranked No. 28 in the league and led to the firing of defensive coordinator Ed Donatell.

Now, Minnesota is searching for his replacement and has requested permission from the Pittsburgh Steelers to interview Brian Flores for that position.

Flores spent last season with Steelers as a linebackers coach and senior defensive assistant, but prior to that he was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins for three seasons from 2019-2021. Flores has actually never been a defensive coordinator despite his background on that side of the ball. Prior to becoming a head coach, he worked in various roles for the New England Patriots from 2004-2018, primarily on the defensive side of the ball.

Flores has drawn a ton of interest from other teams this offseason, interviewing for the Cleveland Browns' defensive coordinator role and the Arizona Cardinals' head coaching vacancy as well.
