Tyler O'Neill Arbitration Case Decision Revealed

St. Louis Cardinals leftfield Tyler O'Neill is off to slow start after a career year in 2021, and it's fair to wonder if his impending arbitration case is at least partly to blame. O'Neill finally presented his case at a hearing last Friday, and he's admitted he's ready for this process to be over with.
Luckily this won't hang over the 26-year-old any longer, as the ruling in his arbitration case was announced.
The Cardinals won their arbitration case against Tyler O'Neill, per source. O'Neill will earn $3.4M in 2022; he had filed for $4.15M.

Tyler O'Neill Arbitration
Unluckily, O'Neill didn't emerge victorious. The case was ruled in the Cardinals' favor, meaning the former third-round pick will make $3.4 million in 2022, opposed to the $4.15 million he initially filed at.
Though it's considered a "win" for the team, it's worth considering how this saga will impact the club's relationship with O'Neill. Upsetting one of the best players on the roster and taking money out of their pocket isn't exactly the basis for a healthy partnership.
On the flip side, this bad news could motivate O'Neill to snap out of his funk. So far he's slashing just .198/.267/.317 with 2 home runs and 19 RBI across 27 games this season.
If the two-time Gold Glove winner can turn things around and turn in another career campaign, his case will be hard to argue against next offseason.
