The Minnesota Twins are one of the top teams to begin the 2022 MLB season, leading the AL Central Division with a 20-15 record. The good vibes aren't exclusive to the majors, though, as one of the Twins' minor-league players just had a week to remember.

St. Paul Saints right-handed pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez has been named Triple-A Pitcher of the Week for the International League.

Gonzalez made one appearance last week as he faced the Columbus Clippers on May 11. He faced 22 batters over 6.0 innings pitched that day, striking out seven players and allowing four walks without giving up a single hit. Unfortunately, St. Paul ended up losing the game, 6-5, after he was pulled.

Gonzalez's strong week is a result of him doing what he can to make it back to the Majors. He's made 61 MLB appearances (47 starts) for the Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies from 2015 to 2021, pitching to a 9-23 record, 5.64 ERA, 1.490 WHIP and 5.3 strikeouts per nine IP.

The 30-year-old has a lot to prove before the Twins give him a call-up. Their pitching staff currently has the fifth-best ERA (3.34) in the MLB so far.

FanDuel Sportsbook is listing the Twins at +3200 (No. 15) to win the 2022 World Series. Teams need strong depth to go on championship runs and Gonzalez continuing his recently improved play gives the club a reliable call-up option down the line.
