Update: Following Monday night's win, Rocco Baldelli announced that the club will activate Carlos Correa from the IL prior to Tuesday's game against the Oakland Athletics.

The Minnesota Twins 2022 season has gotten off to a great start as a team, sitting in first place in the AL Central at 22-15 heading into Tuesday's action. The same can't be said for their blockbuster free-agent signing, shortstop Carlos Correa.

Carlos Correa Injury Update

Correa got off to a slow start this season, hitting .255 with just 2 home runs. Additionally, he was hit by the injury bug and has only played in 24 games, dealing with a finger injury since May 5 that landed him on the 10-day IL.

Things are looking up though for the 27-year-old shortstop, who is "very close to returning", according to manager Rocco Baldelli.

Correa signed a massive three-year contract this winter with the Twins, with opt-out clauses after each season. Despite his potential for leaving, Correa was seen by Minnesota as a cornerstone signing for a team that was a major disappointment in 2021.

If the Twins hope to truly compete for a division title and hold off the surging White Sox, they will need Correa on the field and performing.

Despite their division lead, the Twins hold +160 odds to win the AL Central, still trailing the White Sox (-125) in that regard, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest odds.
