Troubling Sammy Watkins Injury News Has Come at the Wrong Time

Adding insult to injury in the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 5 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, wide receiver Sammy Watkins went down with a hamstring injury.
It was unclear during the game how serious the injury was, but reports have now surfaced that Watkins is expected to miss "possibly a couple weeks." That news couldn't come at a worse time for KC.
Chiefs’ WR Sammy Watkins is expected to miss time, “possibly a couple weeks”, with a hamstring injury that doctors still are evaluating, per source. Chiefs scheduled to play at Buffalo and at Denver the next two weeks.

Coming off their first loss of the season (and against a division rival, no less), the Chiefs are going to be looking to make a statement with a bounce-back win in Week 6.
That's not going to be an easy task, however, against the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are a perfect 4-0 on the season (their fifth game is scheduled for Tuesday night against the Tennessee Titans), and they have been terrific. Pro Football Focus has the Bills ranked as the NFL's seventh-best team, with the fifth-ranked offense and 13th-ranked defense.
Watkins may not be as integral to the Chiefs' passing attack as Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce, but he played at least 80 percent of the team's offensive snaps and saw at least 7 targets in three of the first four games. Even after making an early exit on Sunday, he is third on the team in both targets (29) and receptions (21).
Mahomes played three games without Watkins in 2019, averaging 7.65 yards per attempt compared to 8.26 per attempt in 11 games with Watkins.
The Chiefs will need Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson to step up in a big way if they hope to get back on track in Week 6.
