The tight end position is a tricky one in fantasy football. While the top of the position appears as strong as ever, some low-end TEs have failed to deliver thus far. It's probably time to drop Rob Gronkowski, for example.
If you're looking to replace Gronk, or simply want to upgrade the position, here are three tight ends, rostered in fewer than 50 percent of Yahoo! leagues, that could be worth a start in Week 3.
Tight Ends to Stream Week 3
3. Jordan Reed, San Francisco 49ers (7% Rostered)
The San Francisco 49ers' offense has been absolutely decimated by injuries. Ironically enough, one of the few healthy skill-position players on the team is the oft-injured Jordan Reed. Reed is coming off an 8 target, 7 catch and 2 touchdown performance in Week 2. He'll be a really compelling streaming option as long as he's healthy. The 49ers' lack of WR depth means Reed should keep some value even if George Kittle returns to action.
2. Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team (32% Rostered)
Logan Thomas' production hasn't really been there, but the volume sure has. He has seen at least 8 targets in back-to-back weeks now, totaling 17 targets on the year. Now facing a below-average Cleveland Browns' defense, Thomas has a chance to be great in Week 3 if he can turn that volume into production.
1. Chris Herndon, New York Jets (46% Rostered)
Chris Herndon has essentially been the anti-Logan Thomas. The talent is there, and the opportunity should be, but the volume inexplicably hasn't been. Though the New York Jets' receiving corps is banged up, Herndon has only seen 11 targets on the year, catching 7 for 42 yards. That gives him an extremely low floor, but he absolutely has upside if Adam Gase finally elects to involve him enough in the passing game.
