Best Remaining Destinations for Todd Gurley in Free Agency
By michael obermuller

Todd Gurley's one-year showcase with the Atlanta Falcons proved more negatives about his game than positives. The former star running back doesn't seem close to the player he once was, but he may still be able to be an asset for the right franchise.
Here are the three best destinations for the Falcons' free agent.
3. Kansas City Chiefs
Gurley may not see the free-agent market he's used to this offseason, between concerns about his longevity and the shrunken NFL cap. If he's willing to take a pay cut and another one-year deal, the Kansas City Chiefs may be the perfect match. Gurley can still be a great red zone threat, as evidenced by his 8 TDs in the red zone last season. That could be a huge help to a Chiefs' offense that struggled in that regard in 2020, as no one on Kansas City scored more than 3 red zone TDs on the ground.
2. Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers are starting over with another new coaching staff, but their running back room remains unchanged for the most part. Austin Ekeler is the lead back, no doubt about it, but he could use someone to help share the burden. Rookie Joshua Kelley didn't quite cut it in 2020, and Justin Jackson has yet to prove he's reliable. Enter Gurley, a veteran running back that can help this young group learn. He and Ekeler would make for a dynamic one-two punch at the position.
1. San Francisco 49ers
There have been some rumors that the San Francisco 49ers are interested in Gurley. Tevin Coleman and Jerick McKinnon are free agents, so the Niners do need to bring in some more depth at the position. Gurley once excelled in a similar system with the Los Angeles Rams, so he might be able to have a renaissance with Kyle Shanahan. He would also get to face his former franchise twice a year, an added benefit for the Rams' castoff.
