The Detroit Tigers haven't been easy on the eyes for fans of the home team over the last decade. Detroit hasn't made the playoffs since 2014 and finished last in the AL Central division four times in the span.

The 2022 season has been much of the same. Detroit sits 12.0 games back in fourth place with a 24-39 overall record. Fortunately, the franchise ranked with the No. 10 minor league farm system by MLB.com back in March.

The future is bright, and Tigers fans have been clamoring for an opportunity to see some of their near MLB level prospects in 2022. That's exactly what happened on Friday.

Riley Greene Tigers

The Tigers are set to promote outfielder Riley Greene for his MLB debut. Reports suggest Greene will make his debut officially in Detroit's lineup on Saturday against the Texas Rangers.

Tigers News

Greene ranks No. 1 overall in Detroit's farm system and No. 2 overall in baseball. No. 1 prospect Adley Rutschman already made his MLB debut for the Baltimore Orioles.

Detroit drafted Greene at No. 5 overall back in 2019 out of Paul J. Hagerty high school (Oviedo, FL). He's been tearing up Triple-A pitching this season with a .274/.338/.387 slash line including 17 hits in just 62 at-bats.

Green is touted for is his "violent" power swing from the left side of the plate. He's also seen action at all three outfield spots and offers the Tigers some added versatility.

Detroit placed Austin Meadows on the COVID-19 IL in a corresponding move.
