With April now in the books, we have a good idea of which MLB teams are contenders and which are pretenders. The Tampa Bay Rays look like they'll compete, thanks to their dominant pitching staff, and the New York Yankees have proven deep enough to weather a storm of injuries to remain in contention for the AL East crown.

While those two are atop the division standings, another AL East team looks like a favorable option for Week 6 of MLB survivor. And remember, we come out with weekly picks to try to help you stay alive as long as possible.

With that in mind, here are three baseball survivor picks for Week 6 of the 2019 MLB season.

Don't look now, but the Boston Red Sox are surging. The Red Sox have gone 6-1 in their last seven games, and they seemingly have an easy schedule this week. They open the week with a three-game series on the road against the Baltimore Orioles, the last-place team in the AL East, and then return to Boston for a three-game set against the slumping Seattle Mariners. With six games this week, all the Red Sox need is a split to advance.

2. Houston Astros

The Houston Astros have one of the most dynamic lineups in MLB, and they've gotten out to a 20-14 start to the 2019 season. The Astros open the week with three games against the 12-23 Kansas City Royals and finish it out with a four-game set against a Texas Rangers team that is 4-9 on the road this season. With all seven games taking place in Houston, this should give the Astros an excellent shot at finishing the week above .500.

1. Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs struggled coming out of the gate this season, but have gone 16-5 in their last 21 games. They've won seven straight games and play a four-game series against the 9-24 Miami Marlins to open the week. A three-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers won't be easy, but the Brew Crew are under .500 on the road this season. With all seven of their games at Wrigley Field this week, Chicago looks like a positive play in Week 6 of MLB survivor.
