Wide receivers on the Baltimore Ravens combined for only 45 yards on 5 receptions against the New York Giants in Week 6. That is obviously not going to get the job done in today's pass-heavy league. The front office has brought in DeSean Jackson for depth purposes, but with one surprising detail.

While many thought Jackson would be signed to the active roster, he will be joining the practice squad, instead. Reports suggest that the 35-year-old will be elevated on game day and suit up against the Cleveland Browns, though. This simply provides time to figure out how to clear a spot.
Jackson showed last season that he still has the speed to burn defenders deep down the field. The three-time Pro Bowler averaged a career-high 22.7 yards per catch and scored two touchdowns on plays of at least 56 yards. Jackson also stayed healthy for 16 games for the first time since 2013.
This is the type of move everyone expected Baltimore to make at some point. Only two receivers on the roster have logged double-digit receptions this year and one of them has missed action due to an injury. Second-year pro Rashod Bateman's status remains up in the air with a nagging foot sprain.
The Ravens have tried this strategy out before, signing receivers past the age of 30 such as Michael Crabtree, Dez Bryant and Mike Wallace in the past few years. It'll be interesting to see if this time works out any better. Jackson ranks 36th on the NFL's all-time receiving list with 11,110 yards.
Baltimore has odds set at +1800 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
