The NFL's Conference Championship Round is still a few days away, meaning the Super Bowl 56 matchup still isn't set in stone. However, the NFL did announce that Robert Torbert and his officiating crew will be making the calls at SoFi Stadium in just over two weeks.

Super Bowl 2022 Referees

Super Bowl 56 will mark Torbert's first-ever time officiating football's biggest games. He's been a referee for the last eight seasons of his 12-year career and is seen as one of the more accurate referees in the league.

The 58-year-old averaged the second-fewest flags thrown and penalties accepted per game in 2021. He also called 80 penalties against homes teams and 90 on their road counterparts, so it's easy to see why his down-the-middle penalty-calling will be appreciated by both fans and players alike.

Umpire Bryan Neale, replay official Roddy Ames and side judge Keith Washington will all be making their Super Bowl debuts as a part of Torbert's crew as well.

Super Bowl 56 takes place on Sunday, Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. While the teams haven't been decided yet, it's comforting to know that the game should be called fairly.
