The Pittsburgh Steelers entered this NFL offseason in hopes of building from their success in 2020 and improving the roster in time for kick off next season. In a surprising update, it seems like there is a positive development in the team's situation with free agent wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster.

Smith-Schuster was not originally expected to re-sign with Pittsburgh, but NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that it remains a possibility. The Steelers are still trying to bring back their former second-round pick that has posted 800+ receiving yards and scored at least 7 touchdowns in three of his first four NFL seasons.

While he hasn't shined as the team's No. 1 receiver, Smith-Schuster has been the perfect playmaker for the team to line up in the slot for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The veteran signal caller loves to get the ball out quickly and Smith-Schuster excels at making plays in the open field.

Smith-Schuster is ranked as one of the top free agent wide receivers on the market and may get a deal upwards of $15+ million per year this offseason. That's a problem as the Steelers have the seventh-lowest cap space number in the NFL, but the front office would likely be able to find a way to get a deal done.

It is no question that rumors will continue to swirl around Smith-Schuster throughout the offseason up until he signs. For now, Steelers fans should be intrigued by the fact that Smith-Schuster returning to Pittsburgh isn't as unlikely as it seemed before.
