The Week 15 showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints is generating well-deserved hype before Sunday. The marquee matchup has provided the chance for Saints head coach Sean Payton to reminisce on the 2017 NFL Draft, when the Chiefs traded up one pick ahead of New Orleans to select star QB Patrick Mahomes.

Payton had glowing praise of how good Mahomes looked in pre-draft workout tapes, even going so far as to say the former Texas Tech QB was the best he'd seen on film.

For a Super Bowl-winning and respected head coach like Payton to say that about Mahomes, it speaks volumes about how he felt about the QB coming out of college.

Payton, unfortunately, didn't have the chance to draft Mahomes, as Kansas City moved up to No. 10, just one pick ahead of the Saints at 11. It's not like New Orleans necessarily needed Mahomes in 2017, with Drew Brees playing at a high level and still going this season, but it's a fascinating NFL what-if to think about Mahomes in New Orleans.

The Saints will host the Chiefs in Week 15. FanDuel Sportsbook has Kansas City as a 3-point favorite in that game.
