New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley finally revealed the story behind his friendly wager with Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, pertaining to the 2018 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

While Barkley was gifted a gold and diamond necklace from Mayfield after winning the award, we never knew what led to the bet – until now.

The wager was made at a Los Angeles restaurant, where the two friends were trash talking about who would ultimately be named Rookie of the Year.

After two of the best rookie seasons we've experienced in a long time, Barkley won the award and received a gold chain with a diamond-encrusted piece that reads "QUADS" – referring to the tree trunks that also double as the running back's legs.

In the interview, we also found out what Saquon would have given Baker. If the Browns' QB would have won, the chain would have been inscribed with the word "dangerous," a reference to Mayfield's classic "woke up feeling dangerous" press conference after a big Week 10 win over the Falcons.

Barkley and Mayfield became friends during their college their days at Penn State and Oklahoma, respectively. It was during their college careers that this trash talking began, as Mayfield beat out Barkley for the 2017 Heisman Trophy.

Now that Barkley has evened the score, perhaps the NFL MVP award will be the tiebreaker between the competitive duo.
