Saints Reveal New Candidate for Defensive Coordinator Job

The New Orleans Saints shook up their coaching staff at the end of the season, dismissing defensive coordinator Kris Richard after just one season in the role. On Thursday, the Saints revealed a new candidate for the open role.
According to NFL insiders Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, New Orleans is bringing in former Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Joe Woods to interview for the position.
The #Saints are interviewing former #Browns defensive coordinator Joe Woods for their DC job, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Woods was on Dennis Allen's staff with the #Raiders in 2014.

Saints Defensive Coordinator Rumors
Woods has a connection with head coach Dennis Allen, as the two worked together for the Raiders in 2014.
Although their relationship may give Woods an edge, his recent track record is nothing to brag about. The longtime defensive assistant/coordinator was fired by the Browns after finishing No. 20 in points allowed and No. 25 in run defense.
Allen operated with co-defensive coordinators last year but now both Richard and Ryan Nielsen are no longer with the organization. Nielsen took a role with the Atlanta Falcons, leaving the Saints in search of a new DC.
