Royals Tease Big Jersey News for 2023 Season on Twitter

Kansas City Royals fans caught a glimpse of optimism for the upcoming MLB season when the team tweeted out its new profile picture on Wednesday. It featured the logo in a powder blue color, which suggests the team has some big jersey news coming in light of Nike's new "4+1" rule in 2023.

Kansas City Royals Rumors
Teams will now only be able to wear four different jerseys in addition to their City Connect uniforms. The four include a home jersey, road jersey and two alternate options. Kansas City has been using the powder blue jersey on and off for years now, but it hasn't been a full-time option in decades.
The powder blue started out as a road jersey from 1973 to 1992. Of course, those were the days of legendary Royals players like Bo Jackson and George Brett. A darker blue was used for road jerseys from 1992 through 2008 before the powder blues were brought back as an alternate jersey.
Fans have been clamoring to see Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr. don the throwback jersey during every road game, and it seems like their wish is coming true. The Royals have worn a full powder blue uniform in some capacity for 35 of their franchise's 55 years in the majors. It's become a KC staple.
The Royals have not finished over .500 in any of the seven seasons since they won the World Series in 2015. Maybe reinstating some of the good ole' days into a younger lineup (and bringing back Zack Greinke) will help turn it all around. Kansas City is currently a +15000 longshot to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds.
