Roddy White Makes Wild Claim About Kyle Pitts' Skillset
By Larry Rupp
Former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White recently joined team writer Khris Rim to talk about the team's upcoming season and fans will be excited to hear what he has to say about tight end Kyle Pitts. White compared the second-year pro to one of the NFL's best TEs ever in Hall-of-Famer Tony Gonzalez.
White called Pitts a "unicorn" and explained that he has all the intangibles Gonzalez had when he played for Atlanta from 2009-13. The Florida product's versatility stands out the most, though, as he can line up on the inside or the outside and easily creates separation from his defender.
"He's already a Pro Bowler, but I predict he'll be All-Pro the next 7, 8, 9, 10 years."- Roddy White on Kyle Pitts
Pitts was selected No. 4 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft and lived up to the hype by setting the franchise record for receiving yards by a TE (1,026). The 21-year-old also averaged 15.1 yards per reception and made the Pro Bowl. It's safe to say expectations moving forward remain high.
Falcons fans would be happy if Pitts can put together a career that mirrors just half of what Gonzalez was able to accomplish. The 14-time Pro Bowler amassed over 15,000 receiving yards in 17 seasons and scored 111 touchdowns in 270 games played. His consistency was nothing short of elite.
White ended his interview by stating that Atlanta is not in a rebuild and that the team will win more than seven games this year. It's obvious oddsmakers don't share the same feelings as White, considering the Falcons' win total projection of 4.5 is tied for the lowest on FanDuel Sportsbook.
