The Cincinnati Reds traded for veteran pitcher Mike Minor prior to the 2022 season. Unfortunately, the trade did not pan out well for either side.

Minor struggled on a roster that lost 100 games and pitched to a dismal 6.06 ERA across 19 starts.

Heading into the offseason, the two sides had a mutual option on the final year of Minor's contract. Cincinnati announced their decision on Tuesday.

Reds insider Mark Sheldon reported the team declined this 2023 mutual option, making Minor a free agent effective immediately. Minor's mutual option stems from a 2021 contract he signed with the Kansas City Royals for two-years and $18 million.

The Reds have a number of offseason priorities if they hope on flipping around a 100-loss roster. As is expected with a team of this caliber, the Reds finished bottom-10 in baseball in runs scored and ERA.

Cincinnati currently holds early +12000 odds to win the 2023 World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
