Reds Get Disappointing News With Luis Castillo Injury Update

The 2022 MLB season's Opening Day is under two weeks away and one team that's looking to change its fortunes going forward is the Cincinnati Reds. After all, the Reds have been to the playoffs just once since 2014 and haven't won a postseason contest in nearly 10 years.
Unfortunately, Cincinnati's journey to a potential playoff return will begin without starting pitcher Luis Castillo. The Reds received disappointing news on Monday regarding Castillo's latest injury update, which points to him beginning the new season on the 10-day injured list.

Luis Castillo Injury Update
Castillo has been dealing with shoulder soreness ever since Spring Training began and has yet to appear in an exhibition game. His status isn't coming as too much of a surprise, though, after Reds manager David Bell alluded to him potentially missing Opening Day last week.
"I’m still optimistic, but most likely [Castillo's] probably out for Opening Day, or maybe even the first time around [the rotation]."
- David Bell on March 22
Castillo started 33 games for the Reds last season, finishing with eight wins and an MLB-leading 16 losses. He recorded a 3.98 ERA and 1.364 WHIP with 3.6 walks per nine innings, which ultimately led to him being the National League's walks leader with 75.
The Reds also received the unfortunate news that fellow SP Mike Minor will also begin the 2022 campaign on the IL. Cincinnati's rotation finished with the 12th-best starting ERA in 2021, so beginning the year without Castillo or Minor is definitely a blow.
The Reds' injuries on the mound certainly don't help them with their championship aspirations. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently giving them +10000 odds (T-No. 22) to win the 2022 World Series.
