Tampa Bay Rays rookie Wander Franco has made an immediate impact after debuting in June, and he'll be a huge part of his team's postseason push down the stretch. However, the shortstop gave Tampa Bay a scare on Friday after he was pulled in the first inning.

The latest on Franco is disappointing news.

Wander Franco Injury

Franco has officially been placed on the 10-day IL as a result of his current hamstring issue. An MRI is set for Saturday to get a better idea of the injury, and he'll likely miss two or three weeks if it's not too serious.

All things considered, it's not the worst outcome. He gets a chance to rest up with the Rays running away in the AL East, and entering the playoffs at 100% is great for Tampa Bay.

Franco has dazzled in his first professional season. He's racked up 7 home runs and 36 RBI while slashing .285/.347/.463 across 62 games.

The Rays currently boast a 9.0-game lead in the AL East. They are tied for the third-best odds to win the World Series at +700, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
