Rashaad Penny's New Contract is Huge Steal for Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off of a Super Bowl appearance in 2022, but their roster is already experiencing a ton of turnover. Wednesday saw the Eagles lose another key member of their defense with the release of Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay after failing to reach an agreement on a restructured contract.
Starting running back Miles Sanders is also a free agent, but Philly's most recent signing indicates he won't be back either. So, the Eagles signed former Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny.
Penny signed a one-year deal worth $2.1 million max, but only $600,000 guarnteed, which is a steal for the team.
Rashaad Penny's contract is a 1 year deal worth max 2.1 mil with 600k guaranteed, per @RapSheet.

Perfect situation for all sides.#Eagles
Penny is coming off a torn ACL last season, but prior to the injury, he was a very productive back. He's averaged at least 6.1 yards per carry the last two seasons, albeit in only a combined 15 games.
Nevertheless, the Eagles are taking on almost no risk with this signing, just a one-year deal and at a low number. If Penny can stay healthy, Philly just added one of the most efficient backs in the league for a fraction of the price it would have cost to retain Miles Sanders, who is probably looking for a multi-year deal in the $10 million-plus range.
Whether or not Sanders gets that from another team is to be determined, but he certainly was never coming back to Philly on a deal like Penny just received. The Eagles' backfield depth is one of their strengths, so even if Penny doesn't work out, Philly will be just fine.
