The Las Vegas Raiders may have lost Nelson Agholor to the New England Patriots, but it turns out that's no longer a concern.
Just days after losing Agholor, they've upgraded at the deep-threat WR spot to play across from Henry Ruggs — former Buffalo Bill John Brown.
John Brown Contract
The Raiders have inked John Brown to a one-year, $3.75 million deal that could end up being worth as much as $5.5 million after incentives.
Brown was a cap casualty cut for the Bills this offseason after a down year in an injury-plagued 2020 season.
His last healthy season (2019), saw him erupt for career-highs in both receptions (72) and yards (1,060).
Brown excels as a deep threat, having posted an average depth of target (aDOT) of at least 12.4 yards in each of the last three seasons, but still having maintained a catch rate of 62.9% across his two years as a Bill.
In comparison, Agholor had a 15.5-yard aDOT in 2020, managing a 58.5% catch rate.
Raiders fans would surely like to see their team make some upgrades on the defensive side of the ball, but it's hard not to get excited about this offense's potential next season.
