The Philadelphia Phillies doubled down on their offensive firepower this offseason with the additions of Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber to the starting nine. Now just three days before Friday's official Opening Day, manager Joe Girardi still has a few pressing decisions to be made.

The biggest decision lies with third base. After a strong Spring Training showing, Phillies No. 1 prospect Bryson Stott was informed he made the expanded roster at the beginning of the 2022 campaign.

This is an awesome opportunity for the young infielder, who also ranks No. 45 overall on MLB's list of top prospects. His addition to the roster does add a bit of a log jam, though.

Alec Bohm, a former top prospect, shed that designation with a stellar rookie campaign in 2020. The incumbent third baseman placed second in NL Rookie of the Year voting that season and followed up by slashing .247/.305/.342 in 115 games a year ago.

Stott is a shortstop by trade, a position currently held by veteran Didi Gregorius. It's still unclear if Stott is just getting a taste of MLB action thanks to the expanded 28-man rosters, or if he's begun to cement himself at the big league level.

The slick fielder did slash .429..529/.607 in 34 Spring Training plate appearances. That performance did not go unnoticed and is a big reason why he's on the Opening Day roster.

Phillies fans will pay close attention to the infield's pecking order in April. Stott has showcased his versatility across the infield, and Bohm does have the ability to relieve Rhys Hoskins at first base. Keeping in mind the National League will use a DH starting this year, this is ultimately a good problem for Girardi to have.
