Christian McCaffrey entered 2020 coming off a career year and considered by many to be the league's top running back. However, his season hit a bump in the road when he suffered an ankle injury during the Panthers' Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The injury has kept him sidelined since then. As the team prepared for its Week 7 matchup with the New Orleans Saints, there was speculation that McCaffrey would be making his return, however, that seems like it won't be happening.

A high ankle sprain is nothing to mess with, especially for a shifty and high-usage back like McCaffrey.

Prior to the injury, McCaffrey was being his usual dominant self, already grabbing 4 touchdowns on the ground in less than two games. While the Panthers have managed to tread water since he left, sitting at 3-3 on the season, getting their best player back is something they surely can't wait to happen, just as long as he's healthy. Re-aggravating that injury could spell the end of their season.
