A scary injury suffered by left fielder Jurickson Profar has only solidified the San Diego Padres' need for outfield help at the MLB trade deadline. Insider Jon Heyman has linked the Padres to All-Star Bryan Reynolds in trade rumors, which would certainly boost their hopes for a NL Wild Card spot.

San Diego Padres Trade Rumors

Reynolds is going to be one of the most sought-after bats on the market considering he is under team control through the 2025 season. His team-friendly deal ($13.5 million) also ups his overall value, but San Diego does have three top-100 prospects to dangle in front of Pittsburgh's face.

The pairing here almost makes too much sense. Nomar Mazara and Jose Azocar have combined for 2 home runs across 218 plate appearances, while Trent Grisham owns a dismal .191 batting average. Profar was playing well (20 doubles, 50 runs scored), but is expected to be out for quite some time.

Meanwhile, Reynolds is slashing .257/.337/.463 to go along with 39 runs scored, 3 triples, 15 home runs and 32 RBI across 80 games played in 2022. The 27-year-old is also fresh off his first All-Star game nod in 2021 and finished 11th in the NL MVP voting. His dominance cannot be overlooked.

It's interesting to note that San Diego first inquired about Reynolds before the 2022 season got underway. He's certainly not going to be the only outfielder linked to the team before August arrives, though. Andrew Benintendi, Chad Pinder and Austin Meadows have already been thrown out there.

The Padres have odds set at +1400 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
