Padres Get Exciting News on Rumored C.J. Abrams Promotion

C.J. Abrams opened the 2022 MLB season as MLB.com's No. 6-ranked prospect, but injuries to begin the campaign caused a slow start, resulting in the San Diego Padres demoting him to Triple-A El Paso.
Fortunately, it's looking like Abrams' injuries are a thing of the past as he's been on a tear in the minors over the last few weeks. After the 21-year-old was pulled from the El Paso Chihuahuas' lineup on Sunday, all signs point to his return to the Majors.

Padres Roster News
Abrams has been a completely different player ever since the calendar flipped to June. He's slashing .371/.400/.565 in 13 games (62 at-bats) this month, picking up 23 hits, three home runs and10 RBIs while going 5-of-5 on stolen-base attempts.
Needless to say, that sort of play is the complete opposite of how he looked with the Padres. Seeing 55 ABs in 20 games to begin his MLB career, Abrams batted .182 with just one HR and four RBIs over that stretch, striking out a total of 14 times.
Triple-A success doesn't always produce MLB results, but Abrams is clearly a special player that's yet to show his full potential on baseball's biggest stage. Perhaps his recent stint in the minors gave him the confidence he needs to help bring a World Series to San Diego.
C.J. Abrams NL ROY Odds
Although he's been in the minors since May, Abrams is still listed in FanDuel Sportsbook's 2022 National League Rookie of the Year odds race. The Alpharetta, GA sits at +8000 to win the award, putting him in a five-way tie for No. 15 on the list.
