Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray came into the season with massive expectations. As the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Murray was asked to be the savior of a franchise that only won three games in 2018.
Through eight games, Murray has not only been as advertised, he's seemingly exceeded even the most optimistic of projections. He's led Arizona to a 3-4-1 record, guaranteeing that the Cardinals will finish with a better record than they did just one season ago.
NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds
Oddsmakers have seemingly taken notice of the reigning Heisman Trophy winner's play too, as Murray is the favorite, with +150 odds, to win the 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
But Murray is far from a run-away favorite, as Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs has +200 odds. Jacobs is averaging the fifth-most rushing yards per game (88.6), and has helped transform an Oakland ground game that averaged the eighth-fewest rushing yards per game in 2018.
Following those two is Gardner Minshew, the rookie whose electric play has arguably been the most surprising development of the 2019 season. Minshew has kept the Jacksonville Jaguars afloat, after starting QB Nick Foles went down with a collarbone injury in Week 1, leading the team to a 4-4 record. The 23-year-old rookie has displayed poise beyond his years, throwing 13 TDs to just two interceptions and he sports the 11th-highest passer rating in the NFL (98.8). Not bad for a sixth-round pick.
Rounding out the rest of the favorites for Offensive Rookie of the Year is Daniel Jones (+1600), Marquise Brown (+2000) and Terry McLaurin (+2000).
While Murray is currently the favorite, there's still plenty of football left to play, and it wouldn't be a shock to see any of these rookies shoot up this list.
