The NBA is back, and the primetime matchups that come with it are back too. The reigning NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks host the Brooklyn Nets in this opening day tip-off. In this prediction, let's dive into a Nets vs. Bucks pick and determine the best bet for this Tuesday's NBA prediction.

NBA Opening Night pick: Nets vs. Bucks Prediction

A few inches and last season could've ended completely different. Both teams know that basketball is a game of inches, and sometimes the dominoes fall where they do. The Bucks enter the season with a chip on their shoulder to prove that last season wasn't a fluke while the Nets are healthier and more determined than ever before.

The Big Apple

Kevin Durant carried the Nets team on his back throughout last year's postseason. With a healthy James Harden, the Nets can be one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA this season. And that's presumably without Kyrie Irving. Brooklyn should easily reclaim their offensive crown and once again be the best scoring unit in the league. They averaged 117.3 points per 100 possessions and ranked near the top in multiple offensive categories, including field-goal percentage and 3-point percentage.

The Bucks allowed the 22nd most points per game last season, and Brooklyn should capitalize on this. With Durant and Harden averaging 50 points per game last season and a healthy and deep supporting cast, it will be challenging for Milwaukee to shut down this offensive juggernaut. In this first rematch since the Eastern Conference semifinals battle, Brooklyn has plenty of motivation to exact revenge against Milwaukee.

King Giannis

Giannis Antetokounmpo & Co. finally got over the hump last season and will look to solidify themselves as the team to beat in the Eastern Conference this season. If there is one team that can compete with Brooklyn as the best offense in the league, it's Milwaukee. They led the league in scoring last season, averaging 120.2 points per game. Like the Nets, the Bucks are not known for their consistent defense as they allowed 114.1 points to opposing teams last season, which ranked 21st overall.

Milwaukee will need to be the bully in this matchup and make Brooklyn work for their points. They should continue to dominate the board this season, as they led the league in rebounds just a year ago. During their championship run, Milwaukee played 80s-style defense and was able to push around the best teams in the league. They will need more of that attitude tonight against the current 2021-22 NBA Champion favorites.

Nets vs. Bucks prediction and pick

Brooklyn added vital depth in the offseason as well as regaining plenty of pieces back from injury. LaMarcus Aldridge, Patty Mills, and Paul Millsap should all see plenty of opportunities to take the pressure off Durant and Harden. Brooklyn was significantly undermanned during the postseason and still managed to take Milwaukee to seven games in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Milwaukee will be celebrating their 2020-21 Championship and are enjoying their ring ceremony and banner unveiling tonight in front of their home crowd. Without directly pointing at complacency, a motivated Nets team will have more energy to prove they are deserving of this season's championship against the team that knocked them out last year. I'm taking the +1.5 points with the Nets in a rare underdog opportunity for Brooklyn.
