NBA DFS 1/14/2022
Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Friday, 1/14, NBA DFS action.
FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 1/14
Joel Embiid Fantasy
Target Joel Embiid, C, Philadelphia 76ers ($10,700): Joel Embiid is on a scoring tear, notching at least 31 points in eight straight games. He now draws a Boston Celtics team that he's punished this season. Embiid has put up a combined 54 points, 28 rebounds, 11 assists and 7 blocks against Boston in two previous meetings this year. The 76ers big man recorded 58.6 and 73.5 FanDuel fantasy points, respectively, in those contests, making him a prime target.
LaMelo Ball Fantasy
Target LaMelo Ball, PG, Charlotte Hornets ($8,000): LaMelo Ball has a golden opportunity in front of him on Friday against the Orlando Magic. Ball's production has dipped over the last five games, with averages of 17.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.6 assusts. The Magic could be the perfect remedy, though: Orlando ranks in the top 10 for most opponent PPG and RPG allowed. Both of these teams also play at a top-10 pace, which foreshadows a high-scoring game with plenty possessions to go around. Ball has triple-double potential entering this contest.
Eric Gordon Fantasy
Target Eric Gordon, SF/SG, Houston Rockets ($5,400): Eric Gordon impressed in his return to action, putting up 31 points against the San Antonio Spurs and finishing with 40.1 fantasy points. He's been able to score at will and efficiently all year, shooting a blistering 50.0% from the field and 45.2% from 3-point range. He now draws a hapless Sacramento Kings defense that's allowing opponents to shoot the fourth-highest FG% against them and giving up the most field goal attempts per game. This is the exact kind of opponent the scoring-minded guard can take advantage of.
Stephen Curry Fantasy
Avoid Stephen Curry, PG, Golden State Warriors ($11,000): It's hard to ignore Stephen Curry's recent struggles. He's averaging 18.0 PPG over his last five games while shooting a poor 31.9% from the field and 22.2% from deep. The absence of Draymond Green allowed the Milwaukee Bucks to limit Curry to just 12 points and 4 assists last night, and things won't get any easier on Friday with Green and Klay Thompson both out. There's some risk playing Curry in a matchup with a Chicago Bulls squad that's nearly fully healthy.
Caris LeVert Fantasy
Avoid Caris LeVert, SG/SF, Indiana Pacers ($8,200): Caris LeVert looked fine in his return to action, scoring 16 points and finishing with 25.2 fantasy points following a five-game absence due to COVID protocols. It could take the wing a few games to get his form back, given how other players have struggled in their first few games after coming off of the COVID list. LeVert also has a brutal matchup with the Phoenix Suns on deck, who who boast the second-best defensive rating in the league and give up the sixth-fewest PPG. Nothing about LeVert screams "must play" on Friday.
