The 2022 season has been a massive struggle for the Cleveland Browns. Their woes have brought to light plenty of drama, and the latest beef features defensive end Jadeveon Clowney blasting the team's usage of him in tandem with Myles Garrett.
Garrett reacted to Clowney's comments on Monday by using a phrase that should very familiar to Pittsburgh Steelers fans.
Garrett said "I want volunteers not hostages" when asked if he'd like Clowney back in 2023. This is an obvious nod to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, who's said some variation of that line several times during his tenure when handling disgruntled players in the past.
Clowney vented his frustrations with the Browns to the media on Thursday, calling out the coaching staff for the way he's been deployed, especially on third downs. His actions resulted in the team sending a message by telling him to stay home for Friday's practice.
Now Clowney's status is up in the air for the season finale, ending Cleveland's disastrous year on a drama-filled note.
With how much Tomlin's philosophy resonates with Garrett, and the Browns being pitiful, maybe he'd welcome a change to the Black and Gold in the near future.
